A thermal overload switch acts as a safety device for your commercial exhaust fan's motor. It monitors the motor's temperature and will automatically shuts the fan down if too hot. An overload switch will prevent overheating and potential damage to the motor, it will usually turn the fan off and restart once the temperature returns to normal. To ensure the longevity and safety of your exhaust fan, we ask for a thermal overload switch to be installed on all our fans that are not controlled by a Variable Speed Drive with a internal Thermal Overload as standard. Please note that if a Thermal Overload protection is not installed, warranty will become null and void. It is also worth noting that a thermal overload will not protect a three phase motor for a phase drop out or power surge.
