Industrial exhaust fans are designed for demanding environments and continuous operation, making them far more powerful and durable than standard fans used in light-duty or domestic settings. They are built with heavy-duty materials such as galvanised steel housings and larger motors to manage high airflows and static pressures.
The correct approach is to define the duty point, required airflow (L/s) and static pressure (Pa), and then refine it against system resistance. This includes losses from ductwork, bends, hoods, filters, and dampers. Additional drivers such as capture velocity at canopies, supply air balance, heat load, and noise limits are also critical.
